• Hi,

I just enabled Blogs on my site and noticed the following:

When I attach a picture inside a Blogentry using the [ attach ] -tags, the attachments are shown as a thumbnail. I do not want this. I want them to be shown in their orginal size.

You see, the only way -apparently- to show an image in it's original size is to link to it by using the [ IMG ] -tags. But then you are depended on an external site hosting this image.

I want my users to be able to make use of the great vBulletin and use it's stock attachments-functionality. So they can upload their pictures to illustrate their Blogentries and show them in their original size.

Compared to forum-posting, in Blogs it's even more so important to illustrate your entries with pictures. I need more flexibility in this, because often we have the need to use pictures in their original size. At the moment we can only offer thumbnalized inline attachments.

I already suggested this for the forum-software, more then 3 (!) years ago overhere : Inline attachments (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?p=872351&postcount=8).

  • Aargh... today I once again stumbled upon this issue. To be honest I think it's pretty amazing that at this point in time (2008) we still have not an intuïtive/userfriendly way in vBulletin to use (fullsize) pictures inside forumpostings or blogarticles.

I tried to use this (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=271545) trick from Sockwater by [ IMG ] - linking to an blog-attachment. But no such luck... what does work apparently inside a forumposting, does NOT work in a blogarticle. The Blog doesn't show anything more then a link, when you do that. I don't want that. I just want to be able to upload my pictures from my harddisk/camera/usbstick - whatever and show them FULLSIZED inside my Blogarticles.

Especially when you / your users write Blogarticles it becomes even more important to illustrate one's articles with illustrations. And we want CONTROL over it. We want to decide HOW the illustrations appear in our Blog : now the vB software decides it for us and that's no good.

Please, we need a fix for this.

  • Hi, your chatting help me a lot! Thanks !

  • Dear Grover,

I agree with you. The inline attachments should be viewed full & thumb both.

We request the community to provide more suggestions on this topic.

    Thanks

  • Don't quite know why this (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1581495#post1581495) suggestion is closed now, but I already did put a suggestion in the Blog Suggestions and Feedback. Namely this one. :)

This attachment issue is both emerging in the forum and the blog product, so I guess it belongs to both forums? Anyway, after doing a search just now I realised this suggestion has already be made overhere (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=241612) where even Freddie (vB developer) agrees it should be in. Sorry to have posted it twice, I just didn't remember.

  • I'd like this as well, just for the option, although I'm not too worried about it being done soon, having a gallery add on and all.
